Congragulations!

This week my sister went to the Klein End-of-year Chess Tornament. She played 5 games and was undefeated! She won 2 games and got stalemated 3 other games. Amazing! I asked what was her best memory of the tournament and she said "I checkmated a nine year old boy." She is THE youngest player in the tournament and eventually got 8th place in the unrated section. Close to 900

Every Friday after school from 7-9, I go to the Sugarland Scholastic Chess Club (SLSCC) to play chess. I enjoy playing games with other players even if I lose. My sister usually goes with me. I made lots of friends at the club. There are a few Lius in the club. Danny, Bruce, Andrew, and me. There will soon have Hannah, my sister.

In the week of April 21, I played three games @ SLSCC. I played all the Lius this week. I won two games and lost to Bruce. My rating is 893 after the games. Above is the game I played with Andrew. I almost got checkmated. Lucky me! I should win here. Can you figure out this problem.

Trip to Dallas

On Easter weekend I went to Dallas. I left on Thursday and came on Saturday. During this weekend I played in two different places. It was fun.

First I played in the Dallas Chess Club. I won 2 out of 4. I played 3 people whose rating was over 1000. The last round I played with a Hank Davis ( rating is 1090) and I ate his queen first by trapping but then I made blunder and lost my queen. My rating got higher to 836, a gain of 36 points. There was many people and it was very crowded. I won a person whose rating was over 1000! I left after 12:00 am and the championship section was still playing! I was very, very tired. I didn't know if I could wake up the next day for another tournament.

The other one was in City of Richardson Spring 2006 Scholastic Chess Tournament. I played 5 games. I won 3 out of 5. My fastest game that I played in my tournament history was in 10moves and in 5 minutes. What a record! The last round I played with Caleb Yee ( rating is 1138) and could have won. He was running out of time. Only had one minute left. But I lost and my chance to get a trophy. My rating got up all the way to 860!

HIGHEST PLAYER I Have Ever Beat!

This week I played 2 games. The 1st game I played to Bruce( rating is 1101) and I was white and won. The 2nd game I played to Matthew ( rating is 931) and I was black and lost. Bruce is the highest rated player I have ever beat.

A Bad Week

This week I played 2 games. One game was black against Bruce(rating 1067). The other game was white agaist Danny(rating 947). I lost both games. My rating dropped from 774 to 750. Bad week for me.

Xu Yuhua vs. Hou Yifan
